At Springpod, we believe that every student should have access to meaningful career insights, no matter where they are. That’s why we’re thrilled to be partnering with Drax, the UK’s largest single provider of renewable energy, to launch an innovative virtual work experience programme that will introduce students to the exciting world of sustainable energy.
Our new programme, ‘Decarbonise and Transform: Sustainable Energy Work Experience with Drax’, is designed to engage, educate, and inspire the next generation of talent. Students will explore how Drax is leading the way in renewable energy through bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), pellet production, flexible energy solutions, and carbon removals. They’ll also gain a deeper understanding of the crucial role that core business functions—such as legal, finance, HR, IT, and security—play in shaping a sustainable future.
Springpod’s virtual work experience programmes have already seen remarkable success in the energy sector, with 34,779 students expressing their interest and an impressive 135,000 learning hours already delivered. Now, with Drax on board, we’re set to skyrocket these numbers, ensuring that even more students gain the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the energy industry.
Students participating in the programme will complete interactive quizzes, activities, and real-world tasks designed to provide valuable industry insights. Those who successfully complete the experience will receive a certificate that will bolster their CVs, UCAS personal statements, and applications for apprenticeships or early careers opportunities.
Karen McKeever, Chief People Officer at Drax, said: “We are pleased to continue our exciting work with Springpod through the launch of our new virtual work experience programme, building on the launch of our Project Sprint last year. These programmes represent a highly inclusive way of bringing people to Drax, creating accessible opportunities for young people to learn more about Drax and renewable energy in an engaging way.
It’s crucial that we continue to offer tangible pathways for the next generation to play their part and Drax is committed to putting young people and students at the heart of our strategy for a sustainable future.”
Sam Hyams, CEO of Springpod, said: “At Springpod, we’re committed to reimagining work experience and making it more inclusive, engaging, and impactful. Our partnership with Drax enables students to explore the future of sustainable energy while developing the critical skills needed for a successful career. By working together, we’re breaking down barriers, opening up exciting career pathways, and ensuring that every student, regardless of location, has access to world-class work experience.”
By joining forces with Drax, we’re not just shaping careers; we’re shaping the future of energy. This is an incredible opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and insight into one of the most vital industries driving the UK’s journey to net zero. We can’t wait to see the impact this programme will have on the next generation of energy professionals.
